Help solve a crime in your community and you could be eligible for a cash reward up to $2000.
Cape Breton Crime Stoppers is a community involvement program that offers anonymous tipsters cash awards. Crime Stoppers is a partnership between the public, the police, and the media. Each has a unique role in making this program work. The public are volunteers from parts of Cape Breton Island who oversee the administration of the day to day operations of the program. The police receive and investigate the tipster's information. The media's role is to promote Crime Stoppers in our local area and ensure Crime Stoppers stays in the public domain.
Crime Stoppers encourages members of the community to assist local law enforcement agencies in the fight against crime by overcoming the two key elements that inhibit community involvement: fear and apathy. This is achieved through the tipster's ability to remain completely anonymous and potentially receive a cash reward.
Crime Stoppers provides a telephone number and Web Tips to encourage citizens in the community to volunteer vital information helpful to law enforcement agencies to fight against crime.
Remember, callers remain anonymous and are eligible to receive a cash reward if the information given leads to an arrest and/or charges of an offender.
Cape Breton Crime Stoppers relies on volunteer Directors and tax deductible contributions from the public in order to operate the administration of the program.
